400 Level Depressed University Of Legon Student Commits Suicide

A final year student of the University of Ghana named Jennifer Nyarko said to be suffering from depression and hay fever but refuses to admit the condition and allegedly committed suicide at her hostel.

A passer by who was believed to be on the way to dawn prayers, quickly raised an alarm and an ambulance was called.

Jennifer Nyarko, a Consumer Science and Agric Student, allegedly jumped from the fourth floor of the Akuafo Hall Anex ‘A’ Wednesday dawn, killing her instantly, her hall mates have confirmed.

 A resident of the hall, who spoke to News men on condition of anonymity said between the hours of 4:30 and 5:00am Wednesday, they were called outside the hall only to find Jennifer’s body in a pool of blood with just her night wear on.

“We went outside only to find her body on the floor. It wasn’t good, it was really bad. She was soaked in blood,” the witness said.. Asked whether Jennifer prior to the incident exhibited any strange behaviour or trait, the witness said “She was depressed”.

"As at now we don’t know what may have caused this. She is now in the hospital. We saw her lying down and bleeding from her head. Such cases involve investigations so we didn’t want to touch her. We could see that the head was broken. We are all waiting to hear from the doctor."
