Suspension,Half-pay Handed To 5 UNIZIK Lectures For Exam Malpractice

Five lecturers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka have been handed three-month suspension each for involvement in examination malpractice

The institution’s Director of Publications, Mr Emma Ojukwu, announced this on Tuesday while addressing newsmen in Awka, the Anambra state capital.

The lecturers from the Departments of Pure and Industrial Chemistry and Electronics and Computer Engineering, were found culpable for assisting students in answering questions and awarding unearned marks to students in the first semester of 2013/2014 academic session examination.

Other offenses included their failure to submit examination attendance list, collection of money from students in exchange for additional marks, irregularities in results sheet and other sharp practices.

Ojukwu said the management has placed the five lecturers on suspension since the 2nd of March and the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee Report will determine the next course of action.

He added that administrative verification would soon be conducted in other departments of the institutions in a bid to expose other lecturers that may be involved in the irregularities.
