NANS Commends Governor Mimiko On Take-Off Of Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji

Gov. Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has commended Gov. Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, for his contributions to the successful take-off of academic activities at the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State.

Mr Gbenga Ayenuro, the Vice-President (National Affairs) of NANS in a statement on Friday in Akure, said Mimiko displayed unprecedented statesmanship.

"The governor has demonstrated attributes of a true and thorough-bred, national politician and leader.

"This can be seen in donating the premises of the St. Patrick Mega Primary School, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, to the management of the polytechnic.

‘’This will ensure commencement of academic activities at the institution with immediate effect.

"It is a known fact that the institution was established by the Federal Government during the last administration.

‘’However, it has been unable to commence academic activities due to the non-release of fund by the Federal Government.

"The noble act of the Ondo State Government has opened up avenues for adequate and quality educational opportunities for prospective Nigerians seeking admission into the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji," Ayenuro said.

He appealed to the Federal Government to fund the institution as well as other newly established institutions for the sake of teeming youths yearning for higher education.

Ayenuro, however, pleaded with the Ondo State Government to find lasting solution to the lingering crisis which led to the closure of the Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa in May.
