Indian Delegation Calls on KNUST Vice-Chancellor On Teaching And Research Collaboration

A six-man delegation from the Gokula Education Foundation (Medical), sponsors of M. S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, India, has paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Professor William Otoo Ellis.

The visit was to familiarize themselves with the University’s approach to teaching and research and exploit possibilities of collaboration with the University.

In a brief introduction, the leader of the team Dr. D. V. Guruprasad observed that Gokula Education Foundation, (GEF, Medical), was a private trust focusing mainly on educational institutions and healthcare.

He stated that the foundation had been running for over 50 years and had been managing educational institutions from primary to the highest level. Dr. Guruprasad disclosed that the trust established a private university called M. S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (Medical) in India in 2013.

On healthcare Dr. Guruprasad explained that the Foundation had opened two hospitals: M. S. Ramaiah Memorial Hospitals and M. S. Teaching Hospital. He hoped collaboration between the two parties, KNUST and Gokula Education Foundation, would go a long way to foster mutual cooperation and the sharing of experience and expertise.

Professor William Otoo Ellis commended the team for the achievement of the foundation. He stated that KNUST aimed to expand and it was a fantastic idea to cooperate with India. He observed that the team had come to the right place for partnership in science and technology.

The six-man team was made up of Dr. D. V. Guruprasad, (Chief Executive, Gokula Education Foundation, Medical); Professor S. R. Shankapal, (Vice-Chancellor of M. S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences); Dr. Naresh Shetty, (President, M. S. Ramaiah Memorial Hospital); K. C. Belliappa, (Director, Maxgrid Securicor, India); P. M. Heblikar (Former Special Secretary, Government of India) and Dr. S. Pruthvish.
