Vodafone Ghana, besides providing unique communication solutions to the University, has over the past five years also developed a mutually beneficial partnership with the University which has resulted in the setting up of a Vodafone Tech Hub, a place where like-minded technology students and entrepreneurs can network and collaborate to push technology.
The telecoms giant also has an ultra-modern café with one of the fastest internet speeds on the university campus.
Presenting the cheque for GHS 10,000 during a working visit to KNUST, the Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Ghana, Haris Broumidis, said the company was making giant strides to improve quality teaching and learning by offering training institutions cutting-edge technology that enhance learning and development in the education sector.
He disclosed that the partnership between the two institutions began with the vision to improve communication between management and students. “And this we continue to do by proposing a number of solutions which have been welcomed by the University community.”
He added that Vodafone had provided KNUST with a number of reliable communication solutions including an SMS package which has reduced the need to print and paste notices all over campus.
Termed the ‘mNotify platform’, the electronic notification service has improved bulk communication between staff and students and even peer-to-peer.
“I am even more excited that mNotify was developed by a group of students on this campus from the Vodafone Tech Hub and we look forward to more of such mutually beneficial communication solutions in the future,” he said.
