AIRTEL Tanzania has donated text books worth 2m/- to Mbeya Secondary School as part of the the firm's corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.

Airtel Zonal marketing executive, Mr Jonas Mmbaga said at the handing over ceremony that: "We aim to continue supporting education sector in the country."

Through "Shule Yetu Programme," Airtel has managed to reach various secondary schools in the country for more than seven years. Mr Mbaga said the firm has donated textbooks for mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology for Form one to Form four.

"We believe these books will contribute into having more students enroll for science, increase number of student who take science subjects and attain academic excellence.

"The plan is to have more schools in Mbeya and neighbouring region benefiting from this programme," he added. Mbeya Secondary School Headmistress, Ms Magreth Haule, thanked Airtel and said the book aid would facilitate easier learning for students.

"The books received today is a good challenge for our student and teachers to put more efforts for better academic performance.

We promise to effectively use the books for the betterment of the students and the community as a whole," she said.
