Ahmadu Bello University VC Clears Air On N2.2 Billion Donation

Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Professor Abdullahi Mustapha has said that the university is not in possession of the N2.2bn donated by General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma for the construction of the institution's second phase.

He however assured that whenever the money is made available, it would be put into proper use.

A press statement issued yesterday by the Director of ABU's Public Affairs Directorate, Dr. Isma'il Shehu, said the vice chancellor made the

clarification in response to a question on why work is yet to commence at the site.

"ABU has completed its obligations on the proposed second phase project. Soil test has been done, bill of quantity was provided among many other requirements that the university was expected to discharge.

"We are only waiting for the committee that was set by the donor to conclude their arrangements and we hope that work will soon commence," he said.

Professor Mustapha, who also used the opportunity to intimate the congregation about the numerous problems faced by the university, said because of the about N37 million monthly PHCN bill, ABU has decided to install prepaid meters in all residential houses.

The statement urged academic staff of the institution to come up with researches that would improve the lots of ABU and the nation at large
