19th Career Fair Polytechnic of Namibia
The Polytechnic of Namibia 19th Career Fair opens today at half-past eight O'clock (8H30) and goes on until tomorrow at the lower campus in the open square between the Engineering- and Technology Building

Students have the opportunity to discover what employers seek from job seekers, to research on what the job market has to offer as well as to network with prospective employers. According to the Job Placement Officer at Polytechnic, Michael Kisting, the fair will ride on the Polytechnic's institutional theme for this year, "Universities as Transformation Agencies in Economies".

The aim is to enlighten students on how they are instrumental to national economic prosperity. This will be done through presentations and exercises on Career Mapping. "At least a half of our working hours are spent at work. You must therefore make sure, as far as possible, that you end up in a job that you love," says Kisting.

Adding to this, and explaining how Career Mapping aligns with the institutional theme, Frieda Shimbuli, Dean of Students says "Exceptional leaders, mentors, and innovators are people who know, understand and master their best and worst traits in order to effectively align their skills to their career goals. Our mission, at the Polytechnic, is to make sure that we groom connoisseurs in the various fields that we offer here. We want our current and prospective students to know how to remain on top of their games."

Shimbuli adds that the objective of these career fairs are to provide guidance with regard to "Career Mapping" to current and prospective students. To serve, information sharing and recruitment opportunity to benefit students and the exhibitors in relation to career opportunities and job requirements. They further aim to build contact and closer relationships with Public and Private sector and to display the technological and skills-based nature of programmes offered at the Polytechnic as well as exposing the business community and relevant stakeholders to the Polytechnic's curricula.

This year's Career Fair is made possible by a generous sponsorship from Old Mutual Namibia in collaboration with the Namibia Tourism Board and NamPost.
