Fire Razed 2 Dormitories Of Girl Hostel In Kebbi

Fire has razed two dormitories belonging to Government Girls Science College, Tondi in Yelwa-Yauri, Yauri local government of Kebbi State.

The fire incident, according to Ibrahim Garba, press secretary to the Emir of Yauri, started when the students left their hostels for classes only to later notice cloud of smoke coming out of their dormitories.

"When the students left their hostels for the normal classes, after sometime, they noticed smoke coming out from their hostels, on rushing to the scene what they saw was that two blocks of building belonging to Gwandu House were ablaze with no space to rescue their properties", he said.

He further explained that the shocking news was immediately passed all over prompting the attention of Yauri Emir, Dr Mohammad Zayyanu Abdullahi who ordered for water tankers to be sent to the school to put off the fire. The students lost everything to the fire escaping only with their pair of uniforms.

On hearing the news, the Emir visited the scene to commiserate with staff and students of the school over the fire incident and donated the sum of N500,000 as immediate relief to the students.

Meanwhile, the commissioner for Science and Technical Education, Alh Mohammadu Ruwa and the chairman of Yauri local government, Alh Bala Usman, visited the school and pledged to assist the victims of the fire incident.
