Form Three Girl Stabs Classmate Over Boyfriend

A 17-year old Form Three girl from one of the secondary schools here, has been severely wounded when she was stabbed twice on her stomach by her fellow 15- year old classmate over a fight for a boyfriend.

According to eye witnesses including their fellow students, the two engaged in fierce fighting over a boyfriend who was alleged to have long intimate relationship with both of the girls.

While confirming the ugly and chilling incident, the Katavi Regional Police Commander (RPC), Dhahiri Kidavashari alleged that the incident occurred on December 14, this year at around 5:30 pm at Kashaulili Street in Mpanda Township.

It was further alleged that on that material day the wounded student sent a message through her mobile set to her fellow girl student accusing her for having relationship with her boyfriend and asking her to stop it.

According to the RPC, on the evening of December 14 the two met at the street in question and started exchanging verbal insults which degenerated into physical confrontation.

It was at that moment, according to RPC Kidavashari, one of the girl fished out a knife and severely attacked her rival by stabbing her twice on the tummy, the wounded girl cried for help and people from neighbourhood came and arrested the suspect, who was then handed over to Mpanda Central Police Station for interrogation.

According to the RPC, the wounded girl was rushed by Good Samaritans to Mpanda District health facility where she has been admitted for treatment with her condition described to be critical. The suspect, according to RPC Kidavashari, has been arraigned in court of law.
