Colorado, Alaska universities Partner for joint vet Degree program

Students at the University of Alaska Fairbanks will be able to pursue veterinary careers as part of a collaborative training program being launched with Colorado State University.

Developing a standalone program at UAF “would be cost-prohibitive” but, through the joint program, UAF will admit 10 students each year starting in fall 2015. The partnership will also present new research opportunities for CSU faculty and graduate students, a university news release said.

Admitted Alaska residents will pay annual tuition equal to that of Colorado residents admitted to CSU’s veterinary school; this is expected to total just under $27,000 when the program starts.

They will pay CSU non-resident tuition when they move from the Fairbanks campus to the Fort Collins campus for their final years of veterinary study; the non-resident tuition rate is expected to total about $54,000 when the program’s first class arrives at CSU.
