UK Skills Expo 2020 |
The event, organised in collaboration with Manchester Business School, was targeted at the UAE’s development in line with Expo 2020.
Held at the British Embassy, the event provided a platform for heads of training and development in the UAE to find the best UK providers in the sector.
The World Expo 2020 is expected to create 220,000 jobs,
British Consul General Edward Hobart said: “Education and training have historically been a UK area of strength, which is why we wanted to bring it over seas to the UAE. We want to be a part in its growth and development, especially now that Dubai will host the Expo 2020.”
The 18 companies that took part in the first UK Skills Expo included the British Council, Cambridge English, Heriot Watt University and Pearson.
Randa Bessiso, Director – Middle East, Manchester Business School, said the event will be held annually.
“We hope to make it an annual event because we want the government and private institutes in the UAE to have access to the best vocational training available. The UK Skills Expo will achieve this by providing the needed platform for them to meet.”
