Reading campaign launched in UAE to promote creativity among children

Shaikh Sultan Bin Ahmad Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC) and Sharjah Media Centre, launched a website for the reading campaign titled ‘Read, Dream, Create,’ with the aim of encouraging reading and creativity among children.

The reading campaign which is organised by the UAE Board on Books for Young People (UAEBBY), aims to encourage interaction between young people and books and build their capacity in reading, writing, and creativity through children’s stories.

Shaikha Bodour Al Qasimi, UAEBBY Patron pointed out that while children have talents and broad imaginations that can be nurtured and developed, this campaign is designed to motivate them and develop their skills through reading, interpreting ideas, and writing and submitting their stories. “We seek through the campaign to highlight the importance of reading, show how fun and creative reading can be, and motivate children to really use their imaginations, be creative, and practice how to get their stories told,” said Shaikha Budour.

The website which is launched in Arabic and English is themed “From our Stories to yours: Your Imagination is the Key to an amazing new world” and includes a table of all events and activities that will be carried out throughout the year.
