ICT Lab
The Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Francis Komla Ganyaglo has cautioned the educational sector that government’s commitment to provide ICT facilities to communities, schools and students at various levels should not be mere fanfare.

Beneficiaries of such ICT facilities should therefore make good use of them for the provision of quality education and as a source of information for development.

Mr. Ganyaglo gave the caution at Tafi Atome in the Afadzato South District at the inauguration of a community library and a computer laboratory for the basic school.

The more than 70-thousand dollar computer laboratory for the basic school and a community library for Tafi-Atome were built through the generosity of a U.S based NGO, Amanda Friends of Compassionate Journeys and the International School of Paris.

The computer laboratory is stocked with 10 desktop and 23 laptop computers and a projector. The community library has also been stocked with more than 2000 books, 10 desks and 25 chairs.

The project was executed by Madam Amanda Chrismann Larson from the US who visited the monkey sanctuary at Tafi-Atome and decided to adopt the community. She therefore sought support from the NGOs for the project.

The Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Francis Ganyaglo, commended the benefactors for their support aimed at quality education in the area.

He further appealed to stakeholders, partners and communities to collaborate to help government achieve quality education through the ICT.

Mr. Ganyaglo called on all beneficiaries of the ICT programme to use them to enhance education and cautioned students about using the internet for pornography.

He also pledged government’s support to all local and international organizations who are into the provision of ICT facilities.

The Afadzato South District Chief Executive, Mrs. Angela Alorwu-Tay noted that the importance of library or computer laboratory cannot be downplayed in ensuring quality education.

The ICT laboratory is therefore a timely intervention for school children and teachers in Tafi-Atome.

Mrs. Alorwu-Tay advised the community leaders, teachers and pupils to maintain the facilities to derive its maximum benefit.
