Shaykh M. Institute Gambia And Concept College London Sign MoU to Run Degree Programme

Shaykh Mahfous Institute of Technology Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Concept College of London in United Kingdom to run a degree programme training in the areas of management, accountancy, computer science, civil engineering and business administration in The Gambia.

The MoU was signed by the executive director of Shaykh Mahfous Institute of Technology, Sarane Hydara and the representative of Concept College of London (UK) in the Gambia, Dr. Gabriel Olusegum Jose, at a brief ceremony held at the Shaykh Mahfous Institute office along the Kairaba Avenue. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Sarane Hydara said the aim of the MoU is to collaborate and provide training in the areas of management, accountancy, computer science, civil engineering and business administration in The Gambia. He explained that within the MoU they will have top-up programmes in engineering, computer science and business administration.

Hydara disclosed that the courses would run for a period of six to twelve months and the institute will recruit lecturers both national and international to run the course in the country. He further revealed that the degree programmes will start January 2014 semester with one thousand students from abroad expected to join. He also assured that students would be allowed to enrol in the courses at a reasonable fee.

The executive director of Shaykh Mahfous Institute further remarked that the courses offered will ease the financial burden of Gambians who will want to do such courses outside the country. Hydara said that this is the first time his institution is partnering with Concept College of London. He also revealed that the MoU would last for 25 years.

Dr. Gabriel Olusegum Jose thanked Shaykh Mahfous Institute for partnering with them in the area of education and assured them that Concept will leave up to expectation as far as the MoU is concerned.
