THE Rotary Club of Ndola has donated a vehicle and educational materials to the Orphans Medical Network International (OMNI) School in Ndola's George Township worth approximately K400,000 (about US$80,000).

The Rotary Club of Ndola in conjunction with the United States of America (US) Rotary Club of Seattle donated a car, teachers' desks, a projector, text books, a computer, a cabinet drawer and pupil's desks to OMNI.

Representing the OMNI board of the US, Bill Richardson said the joint programme is a great investment in the life of the pupils.

Mr Richardson said he hoped to have an eternal relationship with the Rotary Club of Ndola to improve the lives of children.

Rotary Club of Ndola past President Paul Ngosa said the items donated were meant to alleviate travel challenges which were faced by the pupils when need arose to visit the clinics as well as in purchasing food supplies.

"The pupils are fed one meal a day without any charges because all the kids here are orphans, hence, Rotary Club of Ndola in conjunction with OMNI sourced for money through what is called Matching Grants. These are the funds we use to meet the needs of the orphans and vulnerable in the community," Mr Ngosa said.
