MKU to Build a Student Research Centre

Mount Kenya University
Mount Kenya University plans to establish a research centre for students. Speaking during the closure of the first international research conference at Safari Park Hotel, MKU Pro-chancellor Prof Chacha Nyaigoti said the research centre will be the first of its kind in Kenya and East Africa.

Chacha said no university can do without research. He said in the modern society, publications alone cannot be useful without innovation and that is why the university is investing in the project. He said MKU also plans to establish an innovation centre at Konza city.

Chacha said the Konza city centre idea was borrowed from well established universities around the world, whose researchers work hand in hand with industry and private sectors.

"Developed countries with sound economies like Japan, China and UK are performing well because researchers and academia are working with industry by applying knowledge in practice," he said
