600 Creative Science Projects On Display in Abu Dhabi

Over 30,000 visitors and 1,500 participants from 65 countries attended the Expo-Sciences International (ESI), which ended on Tuesday.

The ESI is a non-competitive event that aims to promote scientific knowledge in a multi-cultural environment through the exhibition of over 600 projects created by young people between the ages of 12 and 25 from all over the world.

The three-day expo, which started on September 15 and ended on Tuesday, was held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition (Adnec) to exchange ideas and compare scientific projects, fostering networking opportunities and international collaboration.

The expo was held under the patronage of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), the expo is the largest event in the UAE focusing exclusively on the creativity of young scientists from all over the world.

Scientific projects have been classed in 13 categories: earth science, physics and astronomy, biology, behavioural and social, energy and transport, computer science, medicine and health, chemistry, electrical and mechanical technology, environmental analyses and environmental management, engineering and mathematical science.

Students display scientific innovations
Several participants from Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, North America took part in the three-day event to share scientific innovation and promote research.

The programme of the expo included a variety of activities during the three days including cultural and scientific visits, leisure activities, exhibition of projects, workshops, animation and conferences.

“Our main objective by hosting ESI in the UAE is to instil in the young generation a passion for science and contribute to the development of a scientific culture and civilised society,” said Mubarak Al Shamsi, deputy director general at ACTVET.

Students have expressed their gratitude for hosting t such an exhibition that can highlight the efforts of youngsters, teachers and leaders and the interest in research, science and technology innovation.
