Postgraduate Nursing Students Develop Online Teaching Portofolios

A Female Postgraduate Student of University of The Western Cape, South Africa develop an online teaching platform which enables student to have full access of thier course done.

Nursing lecturer, Ms Ntombizodwa Linda, contacted the CIECT team to conduct an ePortfolio training session for her Postgraduate students.  Previously, Nursing students were required to complete and submit their paper-based teaching portfolios.  Hence, Ms Linda saw the value and relevance of the online ePotfolio tool for Masters students.

 On Saturday, 17 August 2013 the Nursing Postgraduate students attended the ePortfolio workshop in the BOE Lab. This workshop enabled students to:

 - Structure and upload relevant folders online

- Create their online ePortfolio site;

- Structure webpages according to the template (as provided by lecturer);

- Add profile information;

- Insert relevant images; and

- Add clinical lessons and examples of scripts which highlight the development of their students.

 The CIECT team will conduct follow-up consultation sessions with Postgraduate students in order to assist with the development of the online portfolios.

 ** Colleagues wishing to participate in these sessions are encouraged to register using the iEnabler (on-line registration booking system).
