University of Sierra Leone honoured three of its senior staff
The University of Sierra Leone (USL) last Friday honoured three of its senior staff at a send-off reception ceremony held at the British Council auditorium in Freetown.

The officials include Professor Jonas Redwood-Sawyerr - ex-Deputy Vice Chancellor of Fourah Bay College, Professor S.M. Gevao - ex-Provost College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS), and Mr. E.T. Ngandi - ex-University Registrar who retired last year after 35 years of service to the University.

Speaking at the ceremony, former Vice Chancellor and Principal of the University of Sierra Leone, Prof. Redwood-Sawyerr- who served the University from 2005 to 2009 in that capacity - registered his appreciation to the USL for recognising their good works.

He said his sojourn at FBC was an interesting journey which he will always remember. He maintained that it was rational for the University to recognise them for the kind of work they had done.

"We are being recognised today because of our good, dedicated and diligent service to the University though we were faced with many challenges," he noted.

Prof. Redwood-Sawyerr thanked FBC for the many opportunities the college had provided him, first as a student, then as a lecturer and now principal.

Earlier, Pro-Chancellor of the USL, Modupeh Taylor-Pearce, said the ceremony was organised to recognise and appreciate the genuine work of the three university dons, noting that it is always pleasing for someone's actual work to be appreciated genuinely which, according to him, will motivate other people to do more in their various institutions.

Gifts were presented to the three officials from the university and other individuals asappreciationfor their services.
