The school has been in existence for over five decades and provides a broad-based, high-quality education through the delivering of an international curriculum in an environment of cultural diversity. The school also endeavours to inculcate values of tolerance, independence and social responsibility in a wholesome atmosphere characterised by a commitment to excellent work. Speaking at the ceremony, the chairperson of the board of governors of the school, Dr. Roddie Cole, expressed delight in graduating yet another badge of students. He urged the outgoing students to maintain discipline and be vigilant in the world of challenges and work hard. He also thanked the parents for giving their children the chance to be educated.
The guest speaker at the event, George Christensen, described education as not passing exams only but as youths, it sums the total of the acquisition of information, knowledge and smart of common sense, understanding the subject matter to the fullest, perfecting the discipline of reading and comprehension and being able to work on their own relatively unsupervised, which need to be taken into context.
Delivering the valedictory message, Musa O. Sanneh, the head of teachers for the school, said the day marks the end of one juncture of a student's career leading to another ahead. He urged the students to simply remain steadfast to the culture of hard work, saying that the value and beauty of hard work will earn immense dividends for personal growth and development as well as the admiration and honour that the students will attain for their families. "Almost nothing of lasting value comes easily or freely, this has been our regular massage during work and play in Marina," he added.
The outgoing head girl, Batul Musa, gave a word of advice to her fellow graduates, while the president of the student's council, Damilola D Oluwalana delivered the vote of thanks.
