Jayee university college cuts sod for cape coast campus |
The project which is aimed at bringing education closer to both potential students and worker who are aspiring to access quality education within the Central and Western Regions respectively.
The new Cape Coast Campus has 9.42 Acres of land mark and expected to be completed within a period of two years and would have seven structures which will be made up of an administrative block, one general services block, four faculty blocks and hostel facilities.
It would also seek to add three more faculties to the existing two faculties which are currently been run by the college, thus Languages, Education and Social Sciences.
The President of Jayee University College Mr. John Emmanuel Donkoh in his address underscored that the move was in fulfillment of the college’s five year strategic plan which spanned from 2009 to 2013 targeted at extending its tentacles to strategic corners of the country.
According to him, the avowed intention of the college is to make education not only accessible to all but also focus on quality and affordability, adding that the rippling effect is also geared towards creating more employment opportunities for the local people and the teeming youth.
He expressed the optimism that the government through the GETFOUND would assist private universities particularly Jayee University College to enable it give facelifts to its infrastructure and provide a conducive teaching, learning and research environment for all stakeholders.
The government was called upon to put in place measures that would seek to reduce interest rate by banks to enable private universities access loans to execute their abandoned projects.
On his part, the Chairman of Jayee University Governing Council Prof Jophus Anamuah-Mensah encouraged potential students to the opportunity of enrolling in other to access quality and affordable education that would enable them to earn good jobs in future.
Prof. Anamuah-Mensah would is the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University of Education Winneba advised parents to invest in their wards education; since it is the only tool to propel their children to become responsible and contribute their quota to the development of their various societies.
