The Chairman, Samuel and Isabella Foundation, Samuel Inyang, who spoke at the occasion, said that the scholarship was instituted at the funeral of late Isabella Inyang, in Aug. 2011.

Mr. Inyang described the deceased as the “best and brightest’’ in her career, adding: “this scholarship is equally for the best and brightest students; not for the poor, the orphans and the needy.

“At the first instance, the scholarship is granted to students with a minimum of 4.0/5.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average,’’ he said.

He urged the beneficiaries to persevere not only in their academic pursuit, but also in their intellectual development. He said that the scholarship was also in support of the free and compulsory education policy of Governor Godswill Akpabio’s administration.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Okorie described the scholarship as “very surprising and challenging’’, and expressed gratitude to the administrators of the fund.
