Gambia Held First National Conference On Higher Education

The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology has announced through a letter sent to this paper that the 'First National Conference on Higher Education' will take place from the 3rd - 4th July 2013 at the Paradise Suites Hotel in Kololi.

The conference, according to the Ministry, seeks to bring together partners, stakeholders, academics and other experts from the diverse academic disciplines and walks of life to dialogue on the significance of Tertiary and Higher Education Policy in socio-economic development. It added that the conference will also explore ways of strengthening and reinforcing national efforts in the promotion, development and application of higher education for the attainment of The Gambia's national development goals.

"Principally, the key focus of the conference will be the Draft National Tertiary and Higher Education Policy (2013 - 2022), which will be reviewed during these two days. Once reviewed and validated, this policy will guide the provision of Tertiary and Higher Education in the country," it concluded
