Ekiti State University Sacks 3 Lecturers, Expels 24 Students
The Governing Council of Ekiti State University has approved the dismissal of three senior academic staff of the institution for allegedly manipulating examination scores.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the school, Mr. Bunmi Ajibade, at the weekend, said the dons were also sacked for alleged plagiarism and failure to serve the university after being sponsored abroad.

Similarly, the university dismissed 24 students found guilty of committing offences ranging from examination misconduct to membership of unregistered associations.

The governing council took the decision to sack the dons at its 108th meeting held on 13th June, 2013, where the recommendations of the senior staff disciplinary committee on the concerned staff were considered.

The expulsion of the students was confirmed by the university management after the students appeared before the students' disciplinary committee, it was gathered.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of the school, Prof Patrick Aina, has approved the lifting of the suspension placed on Students Union activities with immediate effect.

But the statement said only duly registered students that have paid their school fees in full will be allowed to participate in the Students' Union election either as a contestants or voters.
