Teacher, Students arrested over WAEC's exams fraud.

Police in Nimba County are said to have arrested and remanded in custody a classroom teacher and some students allegedly implicated in the West African Examination Council (WAEC's) exams fraud.

The teacher, Abraham Sayon of the Ganta United Methodist High School is alleged to have provided the questionnaires key or answers through text messages to students on their mobile phones during day three of the examinations in Ganta. Many of the students booked and placed behind bar are said to be students of the J. W. Pearson Secondary School in Ganta.

According to report, Sayon was named by the students during interrogation with the exams' supervisors and the police last Wednesday, the day of the incident. The students made the revelation having after they were caught red-handed with the key or answer of the questionnaires in the hall of the examinations.

The students alleged that they collected and paid Sayon L$6,000.00 for the deal which has now backfired. Similar incident also took place during the administration of the examinations in Monrovia where several students of various secondary schools were caught red-handed by examiners and taken to police stations but up-to-date, there has been no report of action.
