Rector Denies Plan to Sell Zaria Aviation College
The Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, Capt. Chinyere Kalu, has denied rumours of alleged plan by the Federal Government to sell the college.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that workers of the college were jittery on Tuesday, following the deployment of some management staff by the Ministry of Aviation.

Some of the workers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, had alleged that the posting of the officers was a step towards actualising the government's plan to sell the college to a private organisation.

Kalu, however, dismissed the insinuation, saying it was "a totally baseless rumour".

"There is no paper, no document, no official communication or any substance to support the rumour.

"In respect of this, I met with my management staff this morning and I have just addressed the entire staff on the issue this afternoon.

"All I know, there has been some new appointments in the aviation industry, however, NCAT's own was sent earlier but for one reason or the other the people did not come.

"Later some of them reported in respect of the appointment. I do not know, is it because of this that some staff felt threatened and began to peddle this rumour?

"There is nothing like selling the college.

"If you look at our on-going project this year, if government is planning to sell, how can they inject huge amount of money in it this year," she said.

NAN reports that, the atmosphere in the college was charged when the new officials assumed duty.
