Qassim University in Saudi recruits 995 professors
The Ministry of Labor has granted the region of Qassim 955 visas to recruit professors from nine countries.

The Secretary General of the Higher Education Council, Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Saleh, recommended the granting of the visas in a letter addressed to the Labor Ministry.

The University earlier announced that vacancies for Saudi nationals were available but that no qualified citizens had applied for the jobs.

Jordan and Egypt topped the list of targeted recruitment, with 200 visas for each. Other countries in the list include Syria and Sudan, with 120 visas each, Yemen with 25 visas, Tunisia and Algeria each with 60 visas, Morocco with 100 visas and Pakistan with 70.

Recruitment started at a time when Saudi Ph.D and Master’s degree holders who have just returned from scholarship programs abroad have demanded employment in lieu of their foreign counterparts.

The Ministry of Higher Education has urged Saudi universities to employ Saudi citizens with higher education degrees. The recruitment process was initiated by a committee comprising several Saudi universities.

The committees conduct interviews with candidates in cooperation with liaison offices in foreign countries.

The names of the candidates are then submitted to the Saudi cultural attaché in those countries for furthering the process.
