Nicaragua to Host Central America,
Caribbean Mathematical Olympiads
Nicaragua prepares to receive students from about 13 countries, who will participate in the fifth edition of the Central America, Caribbean Math Olympiads 2013.

The event, schedule from Jun 22 to 30, will take place in this country due to its performance in last year contest in El Salvador, where Nicaraguan team finished with un gold medal, a bronze and a honorable mention.

According to officials from the Ministry of Education (MINED), the most outstanding students in that discipline are prepared to retain the awards obtained last year, including 14 young people from the Academia Sabatina de Jovenes Talentos.

They are trained by experts from the National Engineering University (UNI) and the best qualified will represent the country in the Central American competition.

According to the executive director of Fundacion Uno (Foundation One), Marcela Sevilla, the interest in mathematics and its study has risen in Nicaragua.

By participating in events like these, this country shows that has talent and potential in Math. All we need is to support the professional aspirations, said the Young Talent Program Coordinator at UNI, Professor Mary Auxiliadora Cortedano.
