MTN Provides Classroom Block/ICT Center for Akyawkrom
Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) has commissioned a 3-unit classroom block and a 20-seater ICT Centre for the people of Akyawkrom, in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

Mr. Michael Ikpoki, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTN Ghana, disclosed that company had invested an amount of GH¢103,100 in the classroom and the ICT project, which was aimed at improving the standard of education in the area.

He said education shapes attitudes, helps people unearth their talents and potentials, and puts them in a better position to make meaningful contributions to the development of their communities and the nation, hence, MTN's resolve to support in this direction towards national development.

Mr. Ikpoti announced that the foundation had increased its investments in the provision of ICT facilities across the country, since the usage of Information Communication Technology (ICT) was no longer a luxury, but a necessity.

He said ICT had become intricately woven into our very existence and wellbeing, and students must certainly be armed with the resource.

The CEO said since the entry of MTN in Ghana in 2007, the MTN Ghana Foundation had invested in various community development projects in the areas of health and education across the country, some of which include 22 ICT centers, ten of which were built in collaboration with the UNDP.

Nana Tutu Ampem II, Akyawkrom Asenuhene, commended the MTN Foundation for the effort at raising the standard of education in the area by providing the ICT facility.
