Liberian Education Trust, Lonestar Cell and LACE Sign MOU
The Liberian Education Trust in collaboration with Lone Star Cell GSM Company and the Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE) has signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of a library valued at US$50,000.00 in Moilakwelleh, Bokomu Distract, Gbarpolu County. The three institutions signed the MOU on Friday May 31 at the Liberian Education Trust head office in Sinkor Airfield.

The Chairman of LET's Board of Directors Ms Maureen Shaw, signed on behalf of Liberian Education Trust, while Mr. Massaquoi Kamara, chairman of the Board of trustees, Lone Star Cell Foundation and Attorney Ramses T. Kumbuyan, Executive Director of the Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment, signed respectively.

According to LET's Executive Director Mrs. Hester Williams Catakaw, a check for US$50,000.00 was presented directly to LACE to oversee the construction project.

She said the library will be turned over to the Liberian Education Trust (LET), Lone Star Cell GSM Company and the Ministry of Education before the next new academic year, which begins in September, 2013.

She pointed that the library will benefit over 1,250 school children and seven hundred community members in Bokomu, Belleh and Geoh Wualala distracts in Gbarpolu County.

"The Liberian Education Trust is buttressing the work of the Ministry of Education in developing a culture of reading in the Liberian society through its reading and library programs," she said.

The executive director assured that Liberian Education Trust will continue to working with funding donors, partners and the Ministry of Education to construct modern libraries in many other communities, especially in rural Liberia in order for children to have access to books.

According to Mrs. Catakaw, the children of Liberia need to read to enable them think critically, comprehend and make independent decisions which will affect their lives positively.

"We are encouraging other institutions to partner with the Liberian Education Trust in its drive to begin a reading revolution in Liberia," Mrs. Catakaw concluded.
