Participants will learn the importance of team building, listening to others, and networking during the four-month course. There will be an interview process and the 16 successful applicants will be announced in September.
The Shaikh Abdul Aziz Bin Humaid Programme for Leadership Development was launched at an event held at the Ajman Palace. The programme comes under the umbrella of the Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Foundation for Human Development.
The innovative programme is open to those aged between 25 to 30. Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and have two years’ work experience.
The programme has been launched in line with a long-term plan to ensure the continuous development of leaders in all government institutions, to ensure the development of leaders with world-class skills, to increase the ability to retain highly qualified employees, and to make good use of the experience and potential of current leaders.
No paper will be used during the environmentally-friendly programme and all training sessions will be electronically submitted using an iPad.
Shaikh Abdul Aziz said: “The programme is an innovative leadership programme designed to develop national leaders capable of promoting the sustainable development of the UAE and to graduate a highly competent national professional workforce to ensure the country’s global sustainability, creating a pool of efficient and inspirational government leaders in the state who will significantly contribute to the sustained progress and development of the UAE as a whole.
“It aims to qualify the future leaderships of government departments in the state by establishing an assembly of talented individuals with distinguished potentials, knowledge, skills and experience at all departments of the UAE government.”
The programme will be supervised by the API group and revolves around six leadership-related aspects.
The programme will start in October. Applications will be open from July 1 and close at the end of August and can be submitted via the programme website to be launched at the end of this month.
The committee will interview applicants on September 15 and the results will be announced on September 26. The first batch of students will graduate in January 2014.
Faisal Ahmad Al Nuaimi, director general, DTD and CEO of the programme said: “We are delighted to be launching the young leadership programme. As the UAE looks to increasingly diversify its economy, a key national objective is to focus on talent development programmes. The initiatives of the leaders’ programme will help provide an early platform to expose our youth in their formative years, so that they can prepare and equip themselves to be the business leaders of tomorrow.
“I therefore encourage all youths who are ambitious and keen to get an early insight into the world of business to sign up for this selective and insightful programme.”
