Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
Iraq’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research approved a national plan to build 13 new universities in a number of provinces.

In a press statement, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ali al-Adib said the project will include establishing 28 faculties specialised in making use of the natural resources in those provinces, in a bid to ensure sustainable human development.

A number of scientific and humanities faculties and departments also will be established, he said.

The new universities are part of a plan prepared by the ministry in co-operation with UNESCO, the World Bank and UNICEF to develop education in Iraq, the statement said.
