Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne will launch a new general-studies degree completion program this fall for working adults who have already completed at least 60 credit hours of college work.

General Studies Advantage is a hybrid program that will require students to be on campus just one night per week.

“IPFW knows that there are more than 140,000 northeast Indiana residents without a bachelor’s degree but have some college credits or have received an associate’s degree. Many think coming back to school is impossible due to their busy schedule or the age of their college credits,” said Deb Conklin, executive director of the IPFW Division of Continuing Studies. “General studies is a popular and flexible program for many of these adults.”

The program will allow the degree to be customized to fit career and personal goals with options for transfer of credits from accredited institutions, prior learning assessments, military service and training programs approved the American Council on Education.

The bachelor of general studies will be awarded under the auspices of Indiana University. As an added bonus, the new program will permit students to complete their degrees at their own pace. Students may also incorporate minors such as business, communication, organizational leadership, psychology and sociology into the program to match their interests.
