Gambia College Holds Science Day Exhibition |
The President of the Gambia College Student's Union, Pa Ousman Jobe, in his welcoming remarks, thanked the participants for their attendance. He said science is the backbone of The Gambia and that one cannot go without it. Jobe urged the science students to have a vast knowledge on the practical aspects of the subject, and advice the students to be determined and committed in their endevours as he describes the subject 'difficult'.
In his key note remarks, Samsideen Jeng, president of the science club, said the day marked another significant day for the Gambia College Science Club to embark on a science exhibition in which the young scientists would showcase their talents in the discipline of science. He added that the occasion is as important as their classroom lectures as it encompasses the professional and academic interactions as science specialists of the school.
The president called on the students to develop an enthusiastic interest in the study of science and its related subjects as it is one of the most vibrant areas of modern day development of any country struggling to attain self-sufficiency of her needs. Therefore, he noted:
"We as teachers on training should be highly equipped with the latest methodology in teaching and learning of Science and be also ready to guide the pupils into Science in schools.
This, in one way or the other will help in achieving the vision 2020 goals of The Gambia". He said Science as a field of discipline should be promoted at all levels to assist the students in order for them to find the study of science easily. He finally thanked the executives and the general membership for tirelessly working towards the success of the exhibition day.
