FUTA Plans First ever University Motor Show |
Mr. Enoch Ajayi, coordinator of the show told Motoring journalists that the one-week event will bring together automobile franchise holders, manufacturers, genuine spare dealers and all stakeholders in the auto sector to the university for the first time.
"There has never been anything like this in the South West before apart from Lagos Motor shows so we want to use the fair to showcase Ondo State to the entire world, he said.
Continuing, he added, "We want to use the opportunity to take the Federal University of Technology to the market place as well as open the Ondo State market to the opportunities in the automobile world."
Mr. Ajayi explained that for too long, brand new cars have eluded most Nigerians and fairs like this would bring solution to acquiring new cars. He disclosed that some financial institutions would be present at the fair to discuss good deals with participants and visitors to the show.
"We are getting some financial institutions involved. They will relate with visitors to the show to know how they can assist them in the acquisition of brand new cars.
The coordinator who disclosed that a Lagos-based company, Filkmou Ltd with many years experience in the auto industry has been appointed as consultant to the show also noted that university cooperative societies that will be attending the show would use the opportunity to seal up their car deals with the automobile companies at the show.
Also speaking on the project, the Managing Director of Filkmou Ltd, Mr. Clifford Omage explained that the show, apart from bringing players in the sector to showcase their products, would educate mechanics and participants on the latest technologies available in automobiles.
"Experts will discuss issues affecting the sector during the workshop.
Expected to participate at the show are local vehicle assemblers, representatives of automobile manufacturers and their dealers, transporters, genuine spare parts sellers, automobile technicians and their associations, motorbike assemblers and dealers, government agencies, lubricant manufacturers and , dealers, financial institutions, as well as university cooperative societies.
