Chinese Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Yang Jun who presented the items on behalf of the embassy to University of Liberia Professor for the program Jonathan C. Taylor during the week said that the embassy was very glad in presenting those items to this new proposed institute to build the capacity of the students.
"As you are aware Liberia is now on the track of development and recovery and with the establishment of this institute China as a foreign partner to Liberia have to come in to give its assistance in this endeavor" said Jun as he presented the items to UL Professor Jonathan Taylor.
Jun indicated that over the years China has made immense contributions to the Liberia's education system by providing both local and foreign scholarships for Liberians to study both in Liberia and that of China which is intended to help build the country's human resource capacity and that which is country has vowed to continue.
Receiving the items on behalf of the University of Liberia, Professor Jonathan C. Taylor thanked the embassy and people and asked to convey his heartfelt thanks to the of China's envoy Zhao Jianhua for the donation to the proposed Liberia Institute of Policy Studies and Research which will put this institute on a good footing.
The University Of Liberia Professor said that the new institute which is awaiting the University of Liberia Board of Trustees approval if approved as a first foreign policy research institute will conductresearch on Liberia's foreign policy .
According to Professor Taylor if the institute is approved by the UL Board Of Trustees a forma launch ceremony will be held and the people from the academia will be invited to its formal launch ceremony which is expected to take place sometimes this year.
The presentation ceremony held at Chinese Embassy in Congo Town during the week was witnesses by both staff of the Chinese Embassy and that of the University of Liberia headed Professor Jonathan C. Taylor who currently chairman of the Ibrahim Bambagida School of International Relations at the University of Liberia.
