Students Protes in Osun state
Students from four tertiary institutions owned by the Osun State government, yesterday, went en masse to the state capital, Osogbo in a peaceful protest and called on the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola to attend to their lecturers so that they will end the ongoing strike and allow students to go back to school.

The concerned students from Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Osun State College of Technology Esa-Oke, Osun State College of Education, Ila-Orangun and Osun State College of Education, Ilesha said the ongoing strike could jeopardize their future if the governor failed to attend to the demands of the lecturers.

The students grounded Osogbo to a halt and it took the intervention ofthe police with the combined efforts of the men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to prevent the peaceful protest fromturning violent.

Speaking on behalf of other presidents of the various Students Union Government in the affected institutions, Osin Abiodun from OSPOLY lamented that the students wished to return to school rather than getting

involved in vices.

The students pleaded with the governor and striking lectures alike to consider their future and shift ground for peace.

It would be recalled that the lecturers embarked on the strike a couple of months ago in an attempt to press home their demands from the government which includes, implementation of salary scheme and elongation of retirement age among others
