NGO Offers Scholarships to 20 Students

Big Mike Erokwu Foundation
A Non-governmental Organisation, Big Mike Erokwu Foundation, last Saturday offered scholarships to 20 indigent students drawn from some secondary schools within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The foundation, which gave the scholarships at the 2nd edition of its clinic/educational workshop, also donated food items to some less privileged people.

The National Coordinator of the Foundation, Chike John Erokwu, said the gestures were to show love and support to the less privileged and physically challenged, who he described as important to the nation.

"Our vision is to give these children quality life, take them through school, take them to the United States to further their studies and bring them back to impact on their society," he added.

Erokwu, who listed academic performance, financial constraints and willingness to learn as criteria for the selection of the beneficiaries of the scholarships, said the foundation plans to extend the scholarship to tertiary level.

One of the beneficiaries, Bulama Alada, thanked the organisation and called on other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the gestures by putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged in the society.
