NANS Condemn Naval Officers' Attack |
The incident, the group alleged, took place on Sunday night, during a disagreement between one Ajose Olalekan, a student of the school and two unnamed naval officers attached to the dockyard on Ahmadu Bello Way.
The students are demanding that the Federal Government should produce the naval officers who shot the students within three days.
They also want the hospital bill of the wounded students to be taken care of by the Commandant of the dockyard.
NANS said: "Furthermore, the naval officers should be charged for murder while N5 million should be paid as damages to each of the affected students to cushion the effects of the unwarranted attack."
Recounting what transpired, NANS claimed that a naval officer slapped the student and in the course of protecting himself, other students came to his rescue and the naval officers mobilised themselves with guns and shot three students.
A statement by the Chairman, NANS/JCC, Mr. Yaqub Eleto further alleged that the shooting continued uninterrupted until 2 am, Monday.
" Presently, the brutalised students are receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Marina and no official statement had been made from the Dock yard. To our chagrin and consternation, the national television reported that it was a clash between cultists and naval officers," the NANS statement said.
