Langara |
The College, which has historically been listed as a “sending” institution in BCCAT’s BC Transfer Guide, will now be listed as “sending and receiving”. The first institution officially listed as “sending” to Langara is Simon Fraser University (SFU), providing more complete information for students transferring credit from SFU to the College. More post-secondaries will be listed as “sending” to Langara in the coming months.
“Langara’s designation as a receiving institution is a reflection of today’s mobile student, who studies at several institutions throughout their career,” said Dr. Brad O’Hara, Langara’s Vice-President Academic and Provost. “Not only does this designation underscore Langara’s reputation for high quality, relevant programming, but it also reinforces our longstanding position as an essential component of the BC post-secondary environment.”
According to a report created by BCCAT in February, student mobility between post-secondary institutions has become increasingly multi-directional, as opposed to the traditional model of students moving from colleges to research universities. Langara’s long history of receiving students from many institutions is now formally recognized with public articulation tables for students transferring from SFU.
Langara currently offers 87 diploma, certificate, and degree programs, including four applied baccalaureate degrees in Business Adminstration, Recreation Management, Nursing, and Performing Arts.
