Tubman University Awards Master Degree Scholarship

The second state-run university located in Harper, Maryland County has awarded a full post-graduate scholarship to five Liberian employees of the Tubman University to study at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

The William V. S. Tubman University granted the five post-graduate scholarships to the employees to pursue a master's degree in

strategic disciplines identified by the University's administration as part of its "Grow-Our-Own-Scholarship Program" (GOOSP).

The strategic fields of study are Guidance & Counseling, Electrical Engineering, Early Childhood Development, and Library Science.

Speaking at a farewell program organized for the scholarship beneficiaries, Tubman University President Dr. Elizabeth Davis-Russell said the "Grow-Our-Own Scholarship Program (GOOSP)" is a continuous plan aimed at enabling deserving employees of the University to meet the institution's professional development objectives.

Dr. Davis-Russell stated that GOOSP seeks to afford employees the opportunity for continuous learning and improvement for excellent performance on the job and to also allow them acquire educational goals in their careers.

Those expected to benefit from the scholarship include, J. Philip Augustus Theoway, Mr. Alexander B. Scere, Mrs. Christina Miller,

Mr. Stephen Browne and Mrs. Jennifer Dioh.

For their part, the scholarship beneficiaries expressed gratitude for their preferment.

Mr. Stephen Browne, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, said the lack of quality manpower is the greatest threat to the success of any institution.

He described the university's effort as an opportunity to strengthen career paths and contribute meaningfully to the development and growth of the institution.
