The “Think Science” Fair run by the Emirates Foundation for Youth Development under the patronage of Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister and Emirates Foundation Chairman, and Shaikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Managing Director of the foundation, is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) till tomorrow.
A total of 160 projects representing the work of 400 young Emiratis are on display.
The inauguration ceremony was witnessed by Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qattami, Minister of Education; Dr Mugheer Al Khaili, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Education Council; and Kay Zwingenberger, CEO of Siemens UAE; along with Clare Woodcraft, CEO of Emirates Foundation, and science academics and professionals from across the region.
“Through this fair, Emirates Foundation seeks to motivate UAE youth to innovate and develop their scientific interests, which will affect their future preferences and career aspirations,” said Shaikh Sultan bin Tahnoon.
“This initiative can be a driving force for all authorities and institutions to perform in the same framework, answering to the local market needs; and to set mechanisms that manage to attract youth and qualified national talents to their cadres.”
Thousands of Emirati scientists are needed to fill positions in the UAE workplace, particularly the private sector, in diverse sectors such as nuclear engineering, aeronautical engineering, energy and IT. He called on all authorities and institutions and the nation’s media to contribute to the journey of early discovery of scientific Emirati talents.
