The NANS made this known in a statement issued by the president of the student body, Comrade Yinka Gbadebo. They attributed Akapbio’s recent appointment as chairman of Governors‘ Forum of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to his sterling records of achievement, urging the governor “to see this appointment as call to service to strengthen internal democracy in the PDP.”
Gbadebo noted that Akpabio had brought about the much needed development, stability and progress to every locality in Akwa Ibom with the state now the “bastion of infrastructural and socio – economic development in South –South Nigeria…
Nigerian students fought for and defended the present democratic order, we will hitherto want to sustain it and watch it grow into a developed democracy, and we will do everything within our reach to ensure that we promote those leaders who have put in their best in delivering the dividends of democracy to their electorate at all level of governance,” the NANS President said.
According to him, “Akwa Ibom State is a model amongst the confederating State in Nigeria today based on the focus and astute leadership acumen and qualities of the governor who has not only make qualitative education free up to Secondary School level but as also made tertiary education accessible to all.”
