Universities in Kutui County Began High Student Intake

Universities in Kitui County have begun expanding their structures to host more students as the country adopts the new system of devolution.

Prof Geoffrey Muluvi, the vice chancellor of South Eastern Kenya University, said the institution has build more tuition blocks and boarding facilities.

 He said the university will offer agriculture and research courses to make the are more productive.

Prof Mbiti Njue, the director of Kenyatta University's Kitui Campus, said the institution has initiated a series of private-public partnerships with local investors to ease the accommodation crisis occasioned by a huge influx of students.

Speaking to journalists in his office, Njue said the university has turned the available staff quarters into hostels He, however, added that the campus cannot host all the students in its premises.
