UG Legon To Phase Out Diploma Programmes

University of Ghana
The University of Ghana has decided to phase out all diploma programmes in the next four years

The last admissions to diploma programmes will be in the 2015/2016 academic year.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Ernest Aryeetey, made this known at the 65th anniversary and congregation of the university Saturday.

He said the decision was in line with the university’s objective of focusing on post-graduate training and allow other tertiary institutions and polytechnics which are running such programmes to do so effectively.

Professor Aryeetey said as part of the anniversary celebrations, a special congregation will be held on April 19 to award honorary degrees to various individuals who have distinguished themselves in their field of operation.

A total of 5,048 students graduated at this year’s congregation.
