CIVIL Liberties Organisation, CLO, weekend, accused National Universities Commission, NUC, of complicity in the crisis rocking Rivers State University of Science and Technology, RSUST, over the contentious retention of Prof. Barineme Fakae as the university's Vice Chancellor.
A day after serving Governor Rotimi Amaechi seven days ultimatum to reverse his appointment of Prof.
Fakae or face court action, CLO, in a statement by its Rivers State Director of Research and Publicity, Mr. Livingstone Wechie, accused NUC of allegedly fuelling the crisis, which had kept the RSUST branch chapter of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, away from classrooms for nine months.
The stance of the striking lecturers, which CLO supports, was that Governor Amaechi, in retaining Fakae as VC, undermined due process, which must be resolved only by reversal of the decision.
The governor and Visitor to RSUST, maintains that his endorsement of Fakae for another term as VC was in order, adding that anyone opposed to it to go to court.
