College students seeking internships now have another source to explore.
The University of Toledo has launched Intern In Ohio. Officials say it incorporates a matching algorithm that will use data gathered from both students and employers.
The university is working with Digerati, of Detroit, to provide the free service to any college student and to all businesses and organizations in Ohio.
The process works almost like speed dating, said Brian Balasia, CEO of Digerati. Students register their qualifications and businesses post opportunities.
Students and businesses each see the seven best matches for what they are seeking. When both parties in the match indicate they’re interested, resumes and information are shared.
Among other internship programs is NEOintern at the Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education, which provides a free platform for employers in Northeast Ohio and college students everywhere.
Employers gain access to information submitted by students and students can browse internships postings that were reviewed and approved by NOCHE.
NOCHE also promotes internships and co-ops through email, social media and career fairs with colleges across the region.
