AFRICA, Ghana, Central University in Talks With South China University

A three-member delegation from the South China University of Technology (SCUT), led by the Head of Recruitment of the School of International Education, Ms. Sylvia Chen Dongmei, has paid a cooperation visit to the Central University College (CUC).

Also on the team were Prof. Yu Zhuliang (PhD) of the College of Automation Science and Engineering, and Dr. Yao Yeboah, their local coordinator. They were warmly welcomed by the management team of the CUC, led by its President, Prof. Kwesi Yankah.
The purpose of the visit, according to Dr. Yao Yeboah, was to explore bilateral relations in education and culture between the two universities.

The preliminary discussions centered on how to cooperate, especially in the areas of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Communications.

Further discussions have been planned which, hopefully, would lead to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two universities.

Prof. James Sammah, who represented the Dean of the School of Applied Sciences, led the discussion on behalf of the CUC, while Ms. Sylvia Chen Dongmei represented the Chinese university.

The South China University of Technology (SCUT), formerly known as the South China Institute of Technology, was established in 1952. It is one of China's leading universities. It operates under the direct leadership of the State Ministry of Education.

After 60 years of development, SCUT has developed into a major, comprehensive university that offers multiple disciplines, including science, engineering, business, management, liberal arts, law and art design.

SCUT is currently composed of 25 schools, offering 83 Bachelor's degrees, 204 Master's degrees and 110 PhD programmes.
