Scholastic, the largest children’s book publisher in the world and leading developer of effective educational solutions, announces the first in a series of free professional development workshops in the Middle East. Taking place on March 4th and 5th at GEMS American Academy in Abu Dhabi, educators will have the opportunity to work directly with international education experts in reading and writing to learn new strategies that increase the effectiveness of instruction and raise student achievement.
International literacy consultants Barbara Johnson and Nele Noe are traveling from New York and Doha to deliver trainings that incorporate best practices from Gaye Su Pinnell, Irene Fountas (authors of the best-selling Guided Reading programs) and Ruth Culham (developer of the popular 6+1 Traits writing curriculum). The sessions are customized to meet the specific needs of educators in the Middle East and attendees will receive explicitly-modeled instruction and hands-on practice opportunities in small-group, intensive workshops.
Scholastic is excited to offer these workshops to the education community in the Middle East and continues to demonstrate its dedication to support schools in the region, more than doubling the size of the Dubai office and expanding to Qatar in the previous year. Dedicated to providing schools with resources to ensure every child is a successful student, Scholastic has earned its reputation as the most-trusted name in learning.
